Liber8 Counselling Services Ltd is a not-for-profit organisation. Since 2018 we have offered on-line and telephone counselling and clinical supervision which created a country wide service. We have (by appointment) therapy room throughout the 10 boroughs of Greater Manchester, in exceptional cases we can visit people in their own home.
The service is for people aged 16 years, and above with no upper age limit. Our aim is to offer a supportive confidential non-judgmental therapeutic relationship to those in distress, just need someone to talk too. And clinical supervision to practitioners requiring supervision.
Our counselling experience includes schools, colleges, Universities, mental health organisations. Abuse; physical, emotional, sexual. Substance misuse. Repetitive behaviour - Obsessive Compulsive Conditions (OCD). Bereavement & Loss. Anger & Passivity. Anxiety. Depression. Esteem issues. Couples counselling; relationship issues, parenting problems, families in distress. Gay identity issues. Sexual identity issues. Suicidal & Self-harming clients.
Our counsellors are professionally qualified and members of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy). The counsellors maintain professional indemnity insurance and been DBS checked.
Liber8 expects the best from our counsellors, we treat professional development seriously. Our counsellors participate in regular Continual Professional Development training (CPD), work to the BACP Ethical Framework Guidelines, have regular supervision from external independent practitioners, and benefit from peer supervision .
We have experience of taking referrals from other services, local authority, social services, NHS, Employment Assistive Programme (EAP), workplace counselling & and workplace dispute reconciliation.
Appointments can usually be offered at very short notice, or within 1 week. Appointments are for a 50-minute session
We believe that counselling should be available to as many people as possible and therefore can offer some sessions at a reduced rate. Please telephone 01942 514 037 for information on concessional rates.
All fees are payable in advance by bank transfer. A block of six sessions can be paid in advance with a reduction of 10% being given. No refund is given if the sessions are not attended (DNA). The period of treatment can be as little as 1 session or open-ended, but, in most cases approximately 6 – 12 weeks is usually sufficient as this does not encourage needless long term dependency on the therapist.
